Mcdonalds vs. Childhood Obesity

Eldon spotted this contradiction in Calgary. I'm amazed the advertising company allowed both billboards to be put up next to each other.
If you're a kid, which one do you choose: the familiar Golden Arches or the concerned woman using words you might not even understand?

Its a guess on my part, but perhaps the organization sponsoring the top ad about eating fruits and vegetables has in fact paid extra to be placed alongside a MacDonalds' ad.
I know that there are now some organizations which are making such an effort.
the wicked part of me that still sort of dreams of being an advertising account executive is torn- is that brilliant ad placement for the nonprofit organization, or is it mayhem?
I like the laws in certain countries in Europe (and Quebec) that forbid advertising directed at children. Not that it doesn't happen there- they just have to be much more devious about it. Kids have enough to process every day- advertising shouldn't take up any of their thought process.
If I were the "Fight Child Obesity" organization, i wouldn't want to pay to have my add next to an ad featuring one of the "coolest" and most well-known brands ever. That's a David vs. Goliath battle that Mcdonalds is likely to win.
If the ad was aimed at parents, I can understand because it invokes a connection between cheap burgers and obesity.
It's all mayhem, Megan.
Megan, you (and hopefully many others) would find it interesting to visit this website and voice your objection to advertising to kids:

It is very easy to participate as the letter is already written for you!
