An Ode to U Fleku
U Fleku should be enshrined as a historic wonder of Prague. Sure, I may be contradicting myself by providing such lofty recognition to a place where tourists come just because it's in the guidebook, but how could any avid beer drinker and culturalist sit for an hour in the main room and not come away entranced by Greeks, Russians, Italians, and Germans dancing and singing to accordian music?
That's right, they have a live accordian player come through and whip the crowd into a frenzy. It's something most Czechs probably wouldn't want any part of. But I say it's as appropriate for temporary Czech residents and tourists as the pre-beer apertif (usually a herbal liquor known as Becherovka) to get the blood going.
It ranks up there with El Horreya in Cairo, Gymkhana in Chandigarh, and Brauhaus in Ulaanbaatar as places I would love to assemble my all-star beer drinking crew. Can we get this done, Jenny, Megan, Blanka, Tom, Nicholas, Ryan, Marty, Ashley, Svenni, Simon, Amin, Orange, Sagar, Jean, and Claire?
Get back to me on that.

Thanks for posting these and other pictures of Prague. We look forward to seeing these places and can hardly wait to try the pivo! (Megan's Mom)
Ticked from my list. U Fleku is wicked... and even better when your company is paying the bill.
Whoa man, that's not my mom. Wait is it? no. Does that mean another megan is part of the all-star beer drinking crew. She can't love you like I do, after 4 beers she'll never kick you nearly as hard. Just remember that when you're handing out your beer drinking trophies. This Megan can't give you what I can (read: bruises).
She probably doesn't even WANT to marry your brother.
Heart,
Megan E. Detrie
I realize we have some "Megan" confusion.
Megan D, that wasn't your mom. That's Megan B's mom.
Megan D, you're on the all-star drinking team. You've earned it after all those nights at Horreya.
I hope this finally proves that Kent really does have a brother and that they don't even look alike. Wait a minute...same hair colour, same eyebrows, same eyes....both drink beer, both are really nice guys, both can cook...oops, I am getting carried away. But as their mother I have a right to do that....
If you wouldn't have named that place U Fleku, I could've sworn, when seeing the pics, I have been to that place about 3 years ago. But since I kept this little voucher thingy (I simply keep EVERYTHING as souvenirs) and it reads "U Maleho Glena", I conclude I haven't.
Or are most of those bars of similar design? I don't quite remember.
Kent, I went there again last night with some more visitors and met this guy that said U Fleku was on some 1000 places to see before you die list. I donno how I feel about that.
