Happy Remembrance Day

"The flag on the Peace Tower is flying at half mast as the Remembrance Day ceremony opens at the National War Memorial.

Thousands of Canadians are jammed on the surrounding sidewalks and
roadways as Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean and Prime Minister Stephen Harper preside
over the traditional rituals.

Avril Dianna Stachnik of Waskatenau, Alta., was on hand as the Silver Cross mother representing generations of grieved parents.

The ceremony opened as the strains of O Canada rose under cold, grey skies, followed by the haunting bugle notes of the Last Post.
