Cool Under Pressure?
How cool do you have to be to not freak out when your credit card gets eaten by a cash machine?
"Oh, it's no problem. I'll be back in a week and can take care of it then.""How long will you be back for?"
"About 8 hours."
"Hmm...you're a brave girl, Jenny."
Ironically, Kate had some issues with her credit/debit cards yesterday. What is it with this town?
All this reminds me of when my Dad, Sister, and I were wondering around Fez, Morocco. I had serious stomach cramps and we were lost something fierce. A good lesson from that was never use a mosque as a landmark...they are too similar to the untrained eye.
Anyway, at some point during the journey, my Dad tried to get some cash from a cash machine. It promptly ate his card. Luckily some guy was in the bank (on a weekend) and quickly came out to return the card back.

Bank issues... I thought it was only me! It took me over 2 hours to withdraw money.. even though I had about 6 forms of acceptable government ID...
Ah, the joys of life in Egypt! At least we always have stories to tell....
Thought you'd be happy to know that my credit card has been taken good care of and it just took me 2 minutes to sort it out:
"Ok, apparently we damaged your card and has sent it back to your country."
"Say that again?"
"We opened the machine and found the card. Then we destroyed the card and sent the pieces back to China by mail so that no one else would use it."
"Hmmm, how do you know where to send it? Actually scratch that question, have you ever happened to think that the owner might still want the card back?"
"You can get a new one in China."
"I don't live in China any more."
"I'm sorry for your loss."
And this was after a fight with a yellow cab driver who stranded me half way from the airport, and before a friendly discussion with a coffee shop guy who tried to rip me off for tea and shisha.
I'll be so bored back in Europe. Thanks for everything.
