I've Never Been so Happy...
...to have electricity.
Three days without it tends to do that to you. Coming home each day was like waking up on Christmas morning, except you don't know if there will be presents under the tree or not.
I find it amazing how much your life changes when you don't have power. You spend a lot less time at home and a lot more time doing stuff. Makes me think we should have voluntary power cuts every once and a while to get people out.

I think you made a very good point about the lack of electricity getting people out of their homes more. It is very boring to be at home in the evenings with no power. This summer when a bunch of hay bales caught fire up the road from us, the power went out. During my walk up the road to try to find out what was going on, I spoke to our neighbours and ended up visiting with them for awhile.
So a lack of electricity increases the sense of neighbourhood. That would make an interesting research topic. Sounds like something your brother may be interested in. However I can just imagine the uproar in Vancouver if he proposed a shut-off of the power at 8pm every evening!
I'm all for a power brown-out between say, 7-10pm every night.
Well, except that here in Calgary, it's dark and cold starting around 4:30.
Can I be selective and say that I'd like power outages in the summer months, to areas with non-essential services?
when the power cuts at my house we all sit together and talk. We don't do it very often so it's actually very nice.
I'm sure families were way closer before computer games, tv shows and internet took all your free time...
Kent, don't be a stranger
